COVID-19 fundraiser

When the COVID-19 pandemic caused our Club to be closed at the end of March 2020 meaning that we had no source of income, our good member Andy Reeves brought us a proposal to raise some much needed funds.

A friend, Barry Boyd “Happy Bowler” Dumbrell proposed that he could have some shirts created in our Club colours and that $20 from the sale of each shirt would come back to the Club. “Happy Bowler” is a firm proponent of looking after one’s mental health and recognises that Lawn Bowls is beneficial for improving mental well-being.

Armed with a concept design with Andy’s slogan “Triumph over Tragedy” on the back orders were taken.

Unfortunately Andy didn’t get to see the fundraiser through to its conclusion, having not recovered from a severe stroke he suffered.

We are grateful for the funds raised in this way. Thank you Andy.

The shirts were delivered in August 2020 – when we were again under ‘stay at home’ orders because of COVID-19 – so we have not yet had the chance to wear our shirts on the green.
